Fiber Art Find! Unique Hand Screened Fabric

Inside the Hungry Palette

Inside the Hungry Palette

The New England town of Stonington, Connecticut (next to the more famous Mystic) has charming architecture, lovely gardens, and a cozy main street, where the The Hungry Palette fabric shop is situated. For fiber arts fans, exploring fabric and yarn shops is usually part of a vacation experience, but this one has something really unusual: hand screened printings of the owner’s fabric designs. For over 40 years, Sandra Loveland Bragdon has been selling panels printed with the intricate and delicate patterns she has created. Made in batches, the colors change over time and when a printing run has sold out, it’s gone. In addition to the panels, she sells hand made clothing that showcases her fabrics’ patterns. It’s a rare and inspirational example of a successful fiber arts career.
