This exhibit was sponsored by the Texas Federation of Fiber Artists, which seeks to promote and educate everyone about the diversity of talent and interests in textile art, including mixed media, paper arts, knitting, quilts, embellishment, all aspects of surface design, weaving, wearable art, felting, art dolls, and crocheting. The Austin Fiber Artists group is a member of the TFFA and many of our members contributed works to this show.
The juror for this show was Lu Peters, a textile artist from Dallas, Texas who has worked in all aspects of textiles, specializing in wearable art. “The TFFA exhibit for the Austin Quilt show affords entering artists the opportunity to showcase the many new directions of fiber art beyond the culture of quilting. By the purposeful use of experimental materials and variety of fiber techniques, artists are encouraged to expand and blend new techniques and elements with both innovative and traditional design formats .By exposing quilters to all media of fiber art, we create excitement, inspiration and participation, and ultimately enhance education in the textile arts.”
